Casio Projector
Repair Centre
We are the UK's authority on Hybrid Laser & LED projection. From the ultra-portable Green Slim (XJ-A) to the robust Core (XJ-V) series, we provide component-level diagnostics for Casio's unique mercury-free technology.
Technician's Note:
"Casio's Hybrid Light Source is unique. It combines a red LED, a blue laser, and a green phosphor wheel. If the 'Lamp' light turns red, it's often not a failure of the light source itself, but a synchronisation error with the phosphor wheel or a cooling fan failure in the laser bank."
— Senior Laser Engineer
Mastering the Hybrid Engine
Casio revolutionised the industry by removing the mercury lamp. While this increases longevity (20,000 hours), it introduces complex failure modes that standard repair shops cannot diagnose. The Laser/LED Hybrid engine requires precise voltage regulation and thermal management.
DMD Chip Failure: Despite being "LampFree", Casio units still use DLP chips. The compact chassis design of models like the XJ-A series often leads to heat buildup, causing the micro-mirrors to seize. This results in the "White Dot" or "Starry Night" effect. We replace the DMD and upgrade the thermal pads.
Phosphor Wheel Noise: To create green light, a blue laser shines onto a spinning phosphor wheel. The bearings on this wheel operate at extremely high speeds. Over time, they dry out, causing a loud whining or grinding noise. We refurbish or replace these assemblies to restore silent operation.
Hybrid Engine
Calibration of the Blue Laser and Red LED arrays for correct white balance.
DMD Repair
Replacing the DLP chip to cure "White Dot" and "Dead Pixel" syndrome.
Phosphor Wheel
Fixing loud buzzing noises and colour flickering caused by bearing wear.
Power Logic
Component repair for units that show no lights or shut down instantly.
Casio Error Code Database
Casio projectors use the POWER, LAMP, and TEMP LEDs to signal faults. Even without a physical lamp, the "LAMP" LED is used for light source errors.
| LED Status | Indicated Fault | Engineer's Note |
|---|---|---|
|
TEMP (Red Solid)
|
Overheating Shutdown | The unit has exceeded safe operating temperatures. Often caused by blocked intake vents on the slim XJ-A models or a seized intake fan. |
|
LAMP (Red Flash)
|
Light Source Failure | The Hybrid Engine failed to ignite. This can be a failure of the Blue Laser Bank, the Red LED array, or the ballast board driving them. |
|
POWER (Red Solid) + TEMP (Red)
|
Fan Lock / System Error | Critical failure. A cooling fan has stalled (locked rotor) or the mainboard has detected a voltage irregularity. The unit enters safety lockout. |
|
LIGHT (Red Solid)
|
Colour Wheel Index Error | The phosphor wheel is not spinning at the correct speed or the index sensor is dirty. This prevents the lasers from firing to avoid burning the phosphor. |
|
Loud Buzzing/Whining
|
Bearing Failure | Mechanical failure of the phosphor wheel or cooling fans. Requires immediate part replacement to prevent catastrophic shattering inside the chassis. |
