Common Epson 3LCD Failures
Epson projectors use 3LCD Technology (splitting light into Red, Green, and Blue). While this provides amazing colour accuracy, the organic LCD panels and polarizers can degrade over time due to heat and UV exposure.
Discolouration (Yellow/Pink)
Known as "Polarizer Burn". If the blue polarizer fails, the image turns yellow. If the green fails, it turns pink/magenta. We replace the specific damaged filter.
Dust Blobs
Fuzzy coloured circles on the screen. Unlike DLP units, Epson optical engines are not sealed. We perform a full ultrasonic clean of the prisms and panels.
Auto Iris Grinding
A loud grinding noise on startup followed by an error. The mechanical iris gear has stripped or jammed. We rebuild or replace the iris mechanism.

Epson Specific FAQ
My image has a yellow bar across the top.
This is a failing LCD panel or a misaligned polarizing filter. The organic liquid crystal material is degrading due to heat. It requires panel replacement or optical realignment.
The 'Filter' light is flashing orange.
The internal airflow sensor detects a blockage. Do not just reset the menu timer. You must physically clean or replace the electrostatic filter, otherwise the LCD panels will burn within weeks.
Is it worth repairing an older EB-X model?
It depends on the fault. Optical cleaning and lamp ballast repairs are very economical (£140-£180). If all three LCD panels need replacing, it may be uneconomical. We offer a free assessment to check.
