Leica Cine
Repair Centre
The Leica Cine 1 is more than a projector; it is a precision optical instrument. We provide authorised-quality diagnostics for the Triple RGB Laser engine and Summicron lens system.
Engineer's Insight:
"The Leica Cine 1 combines a Triple-Laser engine with custom Summicron glass. Unlike standard plastic lenses, these require micron-perfect alignment on an optical bench. A standard 'cleaning' can easily misalign these elements if not performed by a specialist."

Preserving the "Leica Look"
Leica's entry into the Laser TV market brought their 100+ years of optical heritage. The Cine 1 features a complex Triple RGB Laser engine (similar to Hisense TriChroma but tuned differently) paired with proprietary LIO™ (Leica Image Optimisation) processing.
Optical Drift: Because UST units sit extremely close to the wall, any thermal expansion or mechanical shock can cause the image geometry to drift. We use precision jigs to reset the internal mirror array, ensuring straight edges without relying heavily on digital keystone (which degrades resolution).
Laser Cooling: The RGB lasers generate significant heat. The Cine 1 uses a sophisticated airflow system to remain quiet. If dust clogs the heatsinks, the "Laser Temp" sensors will trigger a shutdown to prevent colour shift. We perform deep chemical cleaning of these cooling channels.
Summicron Lens
Re-alignment of aspheric glass elements for edge-to-edge sharpness.
LIO™ Processor
Mainboard repairs for image processing faults and HDMI sync issues.
Silent Cooling
Replacement of MagLev fans to maintain the Cine 1's whisper-quiet operation.
Power Supply
Component-level repair of internal PSUs to resolve "Dead Unit" faults.
Leica Cine Error Code Database
The Cine 1 uses the Power Button LED and On-Screen Display (OSD) to communicate status. Use this guide to identify faults.
| LED Status / Message | Likely Fault | Engineer's Note |
|---|---|---|
| Power LED Flashes Red (Continuous) | Critical Overheat | The unit has exceeded safe operating temperature. Often caused by blocked rear intake vents or a failed exhaust fan. |
| Power LED Flashes White then Red | Laser Engine Fault | The system attempted to ignite the lasers but failed. Could indicate a laser driver board failure or a safety interlock issue. |
| "Fan Error" on OSD | Cooling System Failure | One of the internal fans is spinning below the required RPM or is seized. The unit will shut down automatically. |
| Distorted / Curved Image | Mirror Array Misalignment | Physical shock has shifted the internal concave mirror or the Summicron lens elements. Requires optical bench realignment. |
| Stuck on "Leica" Logo | Firmware / Mainboard | The VIDAA-based OS has corrupted or the eMMC storage chip has failed. Requires firmware flash or board repair. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the image on my Leica Cine 1 blurred at the corners?
The Leica Cine 1 uses a precision Summicron lens with aspheric elements. If the unit is moved or subjected to vibration, the optical bench can shift, causing focus non-uniformity. This requires mechanical re-calibration, not just digital focus adjustment.
What does a flashing red LED mean on the power button?
A flashing red LED typically indicates a critical thermal event or fan failure. The projector has shut down to protect the RGB laser diodes. Do not attempt to restart the unit without professional diagnosis.
Can you repair the motorised dust cover?
Yes. The mechanical dust cover mechanism can sometimes jam due to debris or motor gear wear. We can service the mechanism or replace the stepper motor to restore smooth operation.
