Sim2 Projector
Restoration & Repair
Sim2 projectors are masterpieces of optical engineering. They require more than a standard repair service. We provide specialist diagnostics for the entire Grand Cinema range, ensuring your cinematic experience is preserved.
3-Chip DLP
Complex alignment of Red, Green, and Blue DMDs found in the Lumis and C3X series.
ALPHAPATH™
We clean and realign Sim2's proprietary folded optical engine for maximum contrast.
HDR Tuning
Firmware updates and gamma curve calibration for Nero 4S UHD models.
Thermal Mgmt
Replacement of silent-running fans specific to the Italian chassis design.
Why Sim2 Requires Specialist Care
Sim2 Multimedia projectors are unlike mass-market units. They utilise a compact, folded optical path (ALPHAPATH™) and often feature crystal-glass cabinets. Opening a Sim2 unit without specific knowledge of the chassis clips can shatter the exterior glass.
Furthermore, the 3-Chip DLP engines found in the C3X and Lumis ranges require micron-perfect convergence. If a standard repair shop disturbs the optical block, the image will suffer from permanent colour fringing. Our technicians use specific optical benches to ensure perfect RGB alignment.
- Access to genuine Sim2 spare parts from Italy.
- Schematics for legacy Domino & Grand Cinema boards.
- Anti-static handling for expensive DMD chips.
Sim2 Error Code Database
Sim2 projectors communicate faults via the "Standby" and "Lamp" LEDs on the rear or top panel. Use this guide to identify your issue.
| LED Status | Indicated Fault | Engineer's Note / Likely Cause |
|---|---|---|
| Red Flashing (Fast) | Fan Failure / Overheat |
The sensors verify fan RPM on startup. If a fan is clogged or seized, the unit cuts power instantly.
Common on: Domino 80, Nero 3. |
| Red Solid + Green Flash | Lamp Ignition Fail | The ballast attempted to strike the lamp 3 times and failed. Likely a blown bulb, but can also be the ballast HV unit itself. |
| Blue/Orange Flashing | Cover Open / Interlock | The lamp door is not seated correctly, triggering the safety microswitch. Common after a user attempts a lamp change. |
| Red Solid (No Flash) | System / Mainboard Error | Critical logic failure. Often related to the DMD Formatter board or corrupted firmware. Requires component-level diagnostics. |
| Loud Whining Noise | Colour Wheel Bearing | Not an LED code, but a critical fault on single-chip models (Crystal/Domino). The colour wheel bearing has dried out. Risk of shattering. |
